Mariella, limited edition for Mother’s day 2023
Mariella, limited edition for Mother’s Day 2023
In creating this figurine we first imagined the mood: we wanted her to communicate serenity and meditation, a mother thinking about her unborn child, while imagining it as it could be, caught in the moment in which she begins to see it in front of her, still blurred and yet so real that she could almost caress it. This was the mother we wanted to represent this year, in that intimacy that is only hers, with that slight understanding of what is about to happen but is still far away.
Mariella then presents herself on her knees, with her hands on her lap as if to greet the image that she’s already embracing in her mind, carefully holding a large and soft flower in her hands with her clear and dreamy gaze turned to the future.
The light blue dress, with a sweet and delicate print, is simple, with a high waist almost like a summer nightgown, light and fluttering, with a white petticoat that creates a sort of tail behind and a soft blue collar that surrounds the shoulders with a double V neckline.
Her brown hair is loose over one shoulder, without ribbons or braids, free as if she were getting ready for the evening dreams, while her face is painted in pastel shades, from the pink lips to the blue eyes up to the cheeks flushed in the emotion of the moment.
Under her legs, painted on the underskirt, she bears our brand “Sibania – made in Italy” and her serial number.

Every product created by Sibania is unique both concerning the realization process of every single piece and the production technology, which boasts its being inimitable by others. Each item is hand made and hand painted in our workshop, set in Vicenza (Italy). All clothes are made of thin, porcelain layers on which different kinds of textures are impressed. These layers are cutted according to the characteristics of every single template. They are successively carefully applied on the figurine body. Hairstyles are also handcrafted depending on each figurine’s unique features. Faces, clothes and accessories are painted on the biscuit with non-toxic colors. The piece is eventually baked one last time (“third firing”). Any additional details such as violin strings or the Vespa kickstands are then applied on the finished piece.
